Wadsworth Community Survey Results March 2008 Mayor Robin Laubaugh, City of Wadsworth Dale Fortner, Superintendent, Wadsworth City Schools Jim Pope, Chief Executive Officer, Wadsworth Rittman Health System C. Allen Nichols, Director, Wadsworth Public Library

Background Wadsworth City Schools is eligible to receive several million dollars of State funding in support of needed renovation and replacement of school facilities.

Background (continued) A small group of community leaders representing the organizations that are responsible for meeting the needs of the community, began searching for ways to bring the most value, services and programming to Wadsworth.

Purpose This survey was created to get input and insight from the community to guide the development of cost effective collaborative services, programs, and facilities.

The Survey A 39 item survey was created focusing on 4 areas of potential development: Fitness and Recreation Health and Wellness Senior services Education

The Process The survey was advertised throughout the community in local media, at community meetings, on the partners’ web sites, and in recent utility mailings The survey was available for 3 weeks via the Internet and at locations throughout the community where assistance was also available.

Survey Validation Of the 26,003 people residing in our community (US Census, 2000), 18,596 are over 18 and were eligible to complete the survey. There were 2,566 respondents representing 14% of the eligible population.

Survey Validation (continued) In general, surveys like ours are considered successful and representative if they exceed a return rate in excess of 4.5%. This survey exceeded the minimum necessary return rate.
