Presentation transcript:

Driving cyclists round the bend 1. What 3. Learning When pulling out of junctions take time to look properly for emerging cyclists, as well as other traffic. Pay particular attention when arriving and leaving site at the beginning and end of the working day. Cyclists – be visible! Have a good set of lights and wear high visibility clothing. Report any near misses to raise awareness. Near misses involving cyclists and vehicles are not uncommon on STFC sites. Frequently, incidents occur at junctions. 2. Why The cause of such incidents varies but in all cases involves a lack of due care and attention on the part of the cyclist or the driver. This can be heightened during winter months with dark mornings and evenings, where failing light and glare from other vehicles and street lights may distract you from seeing the cyclist. Further detail can be obtained from your local SHE Group Issued December 13
