Stress tests for CLAS12 software H.Avakian (Software Meeting, JLab March 8) “Intermediate digitization” and reconstruction The role of MC in testing of the reconstruction and calibration software. Define the chain and procedures Define stress tests Which tests could be done before the IT Review?

What do we want to achieve for the review June 7/8 2012? V.Burkert (March 2) Be able to demonstrate that CLARA is the correct choice for CLAS12 data analysis, e.g. clear relationships, expandability, robustness, …. Be able to demonstrate how data handling works within the CLARA framework, give example(s),…. Be able to show event displays of complete event simulation (examples: ep->epγ, ep->eπ+(n), ep->eπ+π-p) with Solenoid and Torus magnetic fields, hits in DC, SVT, MM, FTOF, CTOF, HTCC, LTCC, PCAL, EC. Provide a relationship chart showing how the CLAS12 event builder works (Calib. DB, charged tracking, neutral reconstruction, particle ID, four-momentum reconstruction, complete event reconstruction with probability assignments, …). Demonstrate event reconstruction of simulated exclusive processes without and with simulated beam background. Show how Online and Offline analysis are linked to same database, etc. Show timeline and milestones for the completion of the project

CLAS12 “intermediate digitization” MC MC Generator: ep ->e’p’, ep>e’pg, ep->ehX,…. CLAS12 configuration: Std,tt,with IC,.. Background event: None, 65K beam e-,…. MC event GEANT4 simulation DC,TOF,HTCC,CC,EC,PCAL… momentum/position/time Extraction of “MC xxPB” banks DC,TOF,EC,PCAL… Digitization (ADC/TDC) MC xxPB banks should be exact copies of Data xxPB banks: ex. CCPB Geometry info (x,y,z) Number of ph.el. ……… CLAS12 reconstruction DC,TOF,HTCC,CC,EC,PCAL… ADC/TDC hits DC,TOF,EC,PCAL… (hits/clusters, ex. CCPB) CLAS12 reconstructed event (Particle 4momenta+ PID )

Testing CLAS12 reconstruction/simulation components Data MC MC Generator: ep ->e’p’, ep>e’pg, ep->ehX,…. CLAS12 configuration: Std,tt,with IC,.. Background event: None, 65K beam e-,PYTHIA ph.prod.…. 11 GeV beam on CLAS12 CLAS12 DAQ GEANT4 digitization CLAS12 Raw data Test the calibration chain with different sets of input constants and dead channels CLAS12 Calibration sets, dead channels,… (0) CLAS12 Calibration sets (1) Test the reconstruction chain DC,TOF,EC,PCAL…PID CLAS12 reconstruction DC,TOF,EC,PCAL…PID CLAS12 calibration CLAS12 data quality checks, fiducial cuts,… Physics analysis CLAS12 event

Develop a realistic MC (events+background) for detector and physics checks and tests Define the “intermediate digitization” (“pb” bank structure for all CLAS12 components) Add PID components based on the “flux” from PYTHIA (ex. https://userweb.jlab.org/~avakian/talks/mc/CLAS12-PID.pdf ) Define the standards of quality/specifications for components(resolutions, efficiencies,…..) Define mechanism for testing and checking Setup the chain for quality checks for reconstruction and calibration (test inputs) Create MC tests for calibration components Create a general procedure to account for the dead channels (using ex. From CLAS) timeline and milestones for completion of digitization, “mc digitization”, event reconstruction and calibration components and the whole chain.
