Program Outline Meet once a month Start the program in a home, but move to the church fellowship hall if you outgrow the home location

Program Outline (cont) Start the evening with “getting-to-know-you” questions (limit to about 10 minutes—keep it moving). Sample questions might include: How long have you lived in this community? What food could you eat five times a week?

What poem do you remember from childhood? Program Outline (cont) What poem do you remember from childhood? What is your favorite color? Why? Which period of earth’s history would you like to visit? If you could have any animal as a pet, which would you choose? Why? The Welcoming Team ◘ Greeters Provide the first contact with guests and work to make a positive first impression ◘ Ushers Work closely with Greeters to help people find their way around the church building ◘

Where would be your ideal vacation spot? Program Outline (cont) Where would be your ideal vacation spot? What is your favorite time of the year? Why? What flower do you have the greatest success in growing? What is your secret?

The Bible Study (for example, “Women of the Bible) Program Outline (cont) Opening Prayer The Bible Study (for example, “Women of the Bible) How it works: Each night can be the study of a different woman in the Bible. The first couple of meetings, the story can be told by one person, followed by questions about how we might act if we found ourselves in that type of situation, etc., or what we might have done differently and how those actions might have had a better outcome.

Other possible topics could include: Flowers in the Bible Program Outline (cont) Then, relate it to our present life and how we want to please God in our actions, thoughts, and words. Other possible topics could include: Flowers in the Bible Prayers in the Bible Miracles in the Bible Animals in the Bible Food in the Bible

Prayer Requests Write them down so all can pray for them not only that evening but throughout the month Prayer Greeters ◘ Greet everyone—guests and members alike ◘ Give guests printed information; i.e., bulletin and visitors’ packet ◘ Engage in conversation ◘ Transition guests to Ushers ◘

Program Outline (cont) Craft Project Teach your favorite craft. Other sources to investigate for crafts include: Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Honor Answer Book, by Leland Davis, available from www.adventsource.org www.craftbits.com www.craftsolutions.com www.allfreecrafts.com www.craftown.com www.mycraftbook.com Greeter Positions ◘ Each main door or entrance ◘ Ask the question: “Where do people enter our church building? ◘“Where do guests enter?” ◘

Ushers ◘ Each Greeter team (at each entrance) will have one person designated as the Usher ◘ Usher’s responsibilities: ◘ Before class time, help people find classes ◘ Before worship, assist Greeters ◘

Enrichment Ideas After a few meetings, make copies of the Bible study. Hand out a copy to each lady to follow along. Ask if someone would volunteer to read various paragraphs. The leader would read the bulk of the study to maintain stability and add comments, if needed.

Enrichment Ideas (cont) The last two months, change the craft part of the evening to a community outreach program, where the ladies prepare (exit baskets” for women leaving the battered women’s shelter. In the baskets place personal items: a blanket, socks, mittens, and a Bible promise book, for example. A tag may be tied that says, “From your friends at the _________ Seventh-day Adventist Church,” adding the address, pastor’s name, and phone number.

Enrichment Ideas (cont) Each lady attending the Bible study may be given a Bible promise box with 31 Bible promises typed on slips of paper. The ladies are encouraged to draw one paper each day and read the promise God has for them. Each month the ladies are given another set of Bible promises for the next month.
