What is Height Mod Height Modernization Activities undertaken with the intention of making the establishment of elevations easier, cheaper, more accurate, and more consistent. Started as a Joint Effort between NGS and California The San Andreas fault caused issues with establishing accurate elevations in California Too expensive to continue leveling between bench marks with ground moving so often Newer technologies were making the establishment of elevations cheaper than ever
