GSE Ramp Training Materials Train the Trainer

Objectives Introduce GSE Ramp Training Materials to the Ramp Trainers Describe Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection Define GSE Operating Instructions for all GSE Equipment. Identify training materials location Prescribe how to use the training material. Develop a consistent training process.

GSE Ramp Training Materials for Ramp Trainers Two new GSE ramp training material packages GSE Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection Process Operating Instructions for GSE Equipment Created by GSE Maintenance Designed to promote GSE Equipment operational safety

Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection Ramp employees will be required to complete a Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection form prior to operating equipment. Ramp trainers will train ramp employees on the inspection process utilizing the Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection training presentation. Training required for all current employees and new hires in the future.

GSE Operating Instructions GSE Training Department researched all GSE equipment maintained at Piedmont stations to identify proper operating procedures. Operating instruction training slides were created for all equipment operated by Piedmont employees. Identifies correct operating instructions for all Piedmont operated GSE equipment. To be used to train new and current ramp employees.

Training Material Location The GSE Training Material is located in the GSE Ramp Training folder on the Piedmont GSE Download page. Inside will be the Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection & GSE Operating Instructions folders. Inside the Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection folder will be the Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection presentation and form. Inside the GSE Operating Instructions folder will be separate folders on: AC & Heater equipment Airstart equipment Beltloaders Boarding Stairs Deicers GPU equipment LAV servicing equipment Portable Lighting Tow Tractors & Pushbacks Utility/Passenger Carts

How to use the training material Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection Download the .pdf presentation. Open the presentation. GSE Operating Instructions Select the folder containing the training material you need. Identify your equipment based on make and model number from Table of Contents. The could be more than one Table of Contents Page. Click on the make and model number of your equipment in the Table of Contents. The presentation will take you to the correct operating instructions for the equipment you chose. Review the operating instructions with your employee. Once completed, look for the Contents link in the bottom right corner of each page. Click to return to the Table of Contents. If you have multiple pieces of the same equipment type, find the next piece in the Table of Contents and click on the link to review the next one. If needed you can print the slides to use as a hand out. Only choose the slides you need by the page number(s).

Consistent Training Process Train ramp employees with GSE training material Daily Ground Equipment Safety Inspection Ensure employees understand the purpose of daily inspections Safer equipment with less downtime GSE Operating Instructions Ensure employees understand the purpose of following GSE operating instructions Safer operation with less misuse of equipment Reiterate the correct way to start and shutdown equipment For most equipment, do not engage starter for more than 15 seconds. If engine fails to start , allow starter to cool for two (2) minutes; then repeat procedure Follow cold start procedure (during cold weather operations) when starting equipment Do not use Emergency Stop system for normal shutdown Only operate equipment according to Piedmont/Station Policy Complete Ground Equipment Practical Observations
