What is Morphology? This term comes from Greek words morph- means “shape, form” -ology means “the study of something” It refers to the mental system involved in word formation or to the branch of linguistics that deals with words, their internal structure, and how they are formed.

The Aim of Morphology? to understand the internal constituent parts of words to understand morpheme relationships to understand how a language building relates to words' constituent parts, their morphemes.

Root Definition:The element that carries the main component of meaning in a word and provides the basis meaning. EX:-doubt-,-firm-,-theism-,-muse-,-faith-…etc

Prefix Definition:An affix placed before a word,base in grammar. EX:a-,ab-,ad-,anti-,pan-…etc

EX2(derivational):-able,-ful,-ist Suffix Definition:An affix that follows the element to which it is added. EX1(Inflectional):-s,-en,-ed EX2(derivational):-able,-ful,-ist
