ABB STOTZ-KONTAKT GmbH ABB i-bus® KNX Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Jörn Kruse / STO-G / 2013-06-18 ABB STOTZ-KONTAKT GmbH ABB i-bus® KNX Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 © STO/G - Slide 1

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Replacement of existing SW/S and FW/S Application: Time Switches are used for time programs in buildings. They can easily be handled by on site personnel, like - janitor - technical maintenance The existing 3 time switches are replaced by the new FW/S 8.2.1. ABB FW/S 4.5 replaced by SW/S 4.5 FW/S 8.2.1 SW/S 2.5 STO/G – Slide 2

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Functions & Benefits Supports day and week based time program Time synchronization via the GPS or DCF signal Backlighted display with text-based user guidance Astronomical function for automatic calculation of sunrise and sunset 8 independent logical channels, each with - 1 standard-program (week / day) and - 14 extra programs over the year PC programming via OBELISK memory card Powerful and easy to use functionality for holiday programs, automatic summer/winter time and random programs 8 years backup time in case of voltage failure ABB FW/S 8.2.1 GPS Antenna DCF Antenna PC software OBELISK STO/G – Slide 3

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Design Overview Connection of the GPS and DCF antenna Width: 3 modules Worldwide operating voltage: 110-230 V, 50/60 Hz The mains voltage is required for supplying the GPS or DCF antenna. If no antenna is connected, the supply via the KNX bus is sufficient The device can be operated even in case of power failure of mains and bus voltage Note: 8 years of backup time if device has no supply voltage. The backup battery cannot be exchanged or replaced ABB Backlighted Display Slot for OBELISK memory card Supply voltage connector STO/G – Slide 4

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 OBELISK top2 PC Programming Set The OBELISK top2 Programming set allows the full-function programming of the FW/S 8.2.1 The USB programmer stores the time program on a memory card. After inserting the memory card the program can be taken over into FW/S. Alternatively, the time program can be loaded directly into the FW/S via the KNX bus (no memory card required). Note: The OBELISK top2 is not compatible with the “old” Obelisk software. Note 2: Reading out the time program via the KNX bus will take several minutes. STO/G – Slide 5

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Programming with OBELISK top2 ABB Option 1: Via memory card Option 2: Directly via KNX (no ETS required) The download of a time program into the device requires about 2 min. Reading out the time program requires significantly longer. STO/G – Slide 6

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Astronomical Function Time switch function ABB Astro function One channel can work either as a time switch or an astronomical function The astronomical function defines the switching times in relation to sunrise and sunset. STO/G – Slide 7

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Connection of the Antennas max. 50m ABB or DCF GPS A GPS or a DCF antenna can be connected. If a GPS antenna is connected, the device is able to provide its global position used in the astronomical function. STO/G – Slide 8

Time Switch FW/S 8.2.1 Summary: Replacement by the New Device Consider the width of the device (3 modules) New OBELISK top 2 is necessary New antenna (GPS or DCF) required Mains voltage necessary (if an antenna is used) A time program can not be taken over into the new device The new device provides all functions of the old ones (and many more…) FW/S 8.2.1 STO/G – Slide 9
