Presentation transcript:

Real-time information Today: oversubscription of PQ (expensive/$$) – looking for dynamic Traffic-Engineering for QoS (dynamically assign bandwidth to classes) Better: application asks instead of network does provision (today) Correct marking of streams using 5-tuple info (multiple streams per communication) - understanding network requirements

Use-cases Wireless: Main area for improvement (in our case) Admission Control on a per-AP level ‘Push’ client to neighboring AP if QoE drops (feedback from application) – if better scenario Control platinum access (WMM) to medium Traffic Engineering of media-paths: use high-cost links for voice/video Internet first choice for users Do not pay premium to long-haul non time-sensitive traffic (back to HQ)

Use-cases – cont. Wired: Admission Control Mid-call updates (change of codec, add or remove video, etc) Monitoring & feedback from network – ‘what if’ scenario’s, still dropping packets in a PQ Long-term objective: End-2-end picture via MPLS / Providers: need federation API’s which allow Traffic Engineering discovery
