Set - Up
Division Steps Count the number of digits in the divisor, find that place in the dividend, underline it. Ask yourself, “What number (C) times the dividend is closest to the underlined portion without going over?” Place that number (C) on the division line above the last digit underlined. Multiply that number (C) with the divisor and subtract it from the underlined dividend part. Carry the next number down of the dividend. Repeat steps 2 - 5
