TARGET AUDIENCES Who is your Drama for?

Primary Children The language used would need to appropriate for the age i.e no swearing and simple sentences, easy to understand dialogue The length would need to be fairly short to hold their attention The subject would have to be age appropriate or at least handled sensitively – drugs can be tackled but seeing a character shooting up would be too graphic for anyone under fourteen Use of visuals/theatre arts/costume to grasp their attention

The Elderly Presentations dealing with how life has changed or reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ Humour would also be very appropriate for an older generation A drama exploring how negatively the elderly may view a teenager, may not be appropriate

Teenagers What is relevant to this age group? Most issues/themes will be appropriate, however, choice of language, length of play will be crucial Be very careful with this audience not to patronise or lecture

Families Choice of language – no swearing Use of humour – some aimed at children, some adult only jokes Fairly short in length Use of visuals
