Variables that determine transportation footprint Type of good or service: volume or weight determines the type of transportation and the occupation (kg/€ or m3/€). Amount paid in € determines the amount of cargo and the number of trips for one order or invoice. Type of transportation: delivery van, small lorry, medium lorry, big lorry or heavy-goods lorry determines the maximum vehicle capacity (kg or m3) and emissions (CO2, NOx etc.) per kilometre. Distance from by-pass to destination determines the amount of kilometres per trip. Occupancy of the invoice on vehicle capacity in % determines the part of the vehicle capacity which is occupied by the order. Utilisation factor in % determines the average relative occupation of cargo in the type of vehicle. Product Design Vehicle type Client profile Purchasing and ordering Logistics

Innovation procurement – next steps Communicating our unmet need to suppliers, including their transportation service providers!! Market engagement to determine our approach for collaborative action plan Involvement of other purchasing bodies in Rotterdam region Possible outcomes:  ZEVs  Dialogue with suppliers and other purchasing organisations (buyers share supplier data and suppliers share client data) Smart bundling of orders Zero emission last mile logistics Smart logistic planning software for ordering The last minute order is the enemy of the zero emission last mile delivery unless a smart logistic information exchange software app is available
