Homework YWBAT explain the basic process of planet formation. Monday, July 23, 2018 Objective: YWBAT explain the basic process of planet formation. Drill: Could astronauts land on a star in the same way they landed on the moon? Why or why not? Homework Study WOW

Answer No; stars are composed of gas, not solid rock like the moon. Stars are also a lot hotter!

Did you know…? Gerard Peter Kuiper lived from 1902-1973. He is called the father of modern planetary science. Kuiper made discoveries about Saturn and its largest moon, Titan, as well as about Mars, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Jupiter.

Explain the basic process of planetary formation. Closure Question Explain the basic process of planetary formation.

Conclusion Answer The solar system formed from a collapsing nebula. The nebulae first formed planetesimals, then planets formed in the outer regions, and finally a star (the sun) formed at the nebula’s center
