Advanced vs. Regular The Advanced courses formerly known as Pre-AP will move at a faster pace and require more time spent in outside of class work, such as reading and writing. Benefits of AP AP = Advanced Placement College-level courses taught at the high school. In May, students will take the AP tests for potential college credits. Cost for each exam is approximately $90. Scores range from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). Check with your college/university to learn the score you must earn to receive credit. Scores of 3 or better earn credit at all Ohio public colleges. Weighted GPA if earn B- or above (5.0=A, 4.0=B)
World Studies vs. AP World History Both World Studies and AP World History satisfy the graduation requirement for Social Studies AP World History is a college level course Students who have performed well in Social Studies courses and want to be challenged more are welcome to enroll This course requires additional reading, writing and in depth analysis of the text This course will be weighted Students will have the option to take the AP test in the spring AP Scores range from 1-5. All public universities in Ohio will accept scores of 3, 4 or 5.

Global Language: French, Spanish, Latin This is considered a core class by colleges. Most require a minimum of 2 years (of the same language) Many prefer 3 or 4 years (depending upon the selectivity of the college/university) Students should talk with their teacher about whether they should move on to the next level of their global language
Physical Education/Health If your student still needs to earn P.E. credit, three options: Physical Education– semester class during school year worth 0.25 credit (need to take two times to earn .5 credits in P.E.) Summer P.E. – summer school course taken first three weeks of the summer worth 0.25 credit (need to take two times to earn .5 credits in P.E.) Meets in the mornings, $150, packets available online PE Waiver—2 sports (click here to access the form) Two options for earning .5 credits in Health: Health during the school year for one semester--.5 credits Summer Health to earn the .5 credit—application packets will be available online
IEP OR 504 PLAN If your student is on an IEP or 504 Plan and needs to be in specific courses, they will be hand scheduled by the special education department and administration to make sure students are in appropriate classes.
