That What It’s All About… Agenda Learning Targets Due Today: Compare and Contrast Diagram Thesis Statement Check in with your group and make a plan for today. Create your presentation Practice Homework: Work on your presentation I can work with my group to create a presentation that reflects my understanding of a key scene in Shakespeare, the modern adaptation, and the lens I am using.

What’s the Plan? 2/10-13 Fri Mon Edit and Polish Presentations 2/8-9 Wed Thurs Prep Presentations Work with your group to create a thesis statement. Finish up your presentations. Formative: Thesis Homework: 2/10-13 Fri Mon Edit and Polish Presentations Make sure you are ready to go with presentations. Everyone needs to have something to say and be ready to go. 2/14-17 Tues Presentations First summative of the semester.  This is a group grade but you should be able to identify what each group member did for the project.

Writing a Thesis Statement Essential Question(s) Thesis Statement & Road Map What motivates Hamlet/Simba to take revenge? (Formalist) How does Hamlet/Lion King help us to understand ourselves? (Psychological) The psychological lens helps one understand Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the adaptation Lion King, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, by showing that society influences reactions to human motivations. Hamlet shows what people want to do, while Simba shows what society expects people to do.

Writing a Thesis Statement The __________ lens helps one understand Shakespeare’s __________ and the adaptation __________ directed by __________ , by showing __________ . Road Map __________ shows __________ , while __________ shows __________ .

Make a Plan for Today Check in with your group members and go over the homework that each person did. Look over your plan for this project. Write out a specific plan for today that includes who is doing what. I will be around the check in and check off on homework (compare and contrast and thesis statements). My plan was to give back their exit slips from the day before to inform this conversation.

Drafting Your Presentation What your presentation must have: Written component Images Compare and contrast of the key scene Application of your lens on both movies I should be able to see who did what Here are some options: https://spark.adobe.com/page/ZhBOBkHnu4VRX/ Presentation board Get creative! You could make a video, podcast, anything that strikes your fancy! Just check in first. 

Exit Slip What homework has been assigned to each member of the group? What is 1 thing that is going well? What is 1 road block you have hit? Anything else I need to know?
