Repetition, Variation, Value, Line, Space and Unity

Notice how the artist allows the shapes of the keys to flow into each other. The artist doesn’t outline the boarders. Instead she uses different tones in the background in each square. She also balances the tones to evenly distribute them throughout the whole piece, as well as the individual squares.

Again the object flows from one square to another. Nothing is outlined Again the object flows from one square to another. Nothing is outlined. It’s the different values and objects from a variety of angles that keeps each drawing separated.

This artist carefully chose a two color palette and distributed the colors, line variations, and textures of the pen renderings to create a playful sense of rhythm and balance.   Positive and negative shapes become interchangeable.
