Permit Definition: a legal document giving official permission; or to give formal authorization Example: The school had to get a building permit.

Permissive Definition: able to grant permission; not strict in discipline Example: Kelly’s mom’s rules are permissive.

Remit Definition: to send payments for; to send or hand in; to cancel; to put off or postpone Example: Kyle must remit his paper.

Transmission Definition: the act of sending a message Example: Kelly sent an electronic transmission.

Omission Definition: something that has been left out Example: That question was an omission from the study guide.

Commission Definition: a special group of government boards; a fee or salary for work done Example: The salesman received a commission for his work.

Emission Definition: a substance that is released; the act of throwing out Example: The plant’s emission smelled really bad.
