Paragraph model The narrator of Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry is Cassie. In chapter one, the narrator says “I betcha Mama’s gonna ‘clean’ you, you keep it up…” (Taylor 2). We know the narrator makes this statement because she concludes the sentence with “I grumbled” (2). In the very next sentence, the narrator’s brother Stacey responds to her statement by saying “Ah, Cassie, leave him be…” (2). Stacey’s response following the narrator’s “I” allows us to identify the narrator as Cassie.

Because Amber wanted to do more, she started an organization.
