Expedition – n. 1) a long, planned journey or 2) speed at which you do something When we planned the cross-country road trip, we had no idea of all the wonderful sights we would see on the expedition.

Exploit – n. 1) an adventure or 2) a great deed The Indiana Jones movies portray the exploits of a daring archaeologist and adventurer.

Mission – n. A specific task The mission of the Habitat for Humanity project was to help the Mendez family rebuild its home.

Quest – n. A search or hunt In his quest for knowledge, Quincy read every book he could find.

Ecstasy (Ek-stuh-see) – n. Overpowering joy Overwhelmed with ecstasy, Eve was speechless with joy for several minutes.

Excel – v. To be the best At the top of his game, Michael Jordan excelled as a basketball player.

Extraordinary – adj. Exceptional or beyond the usual Mother Teresa was an extraordinary woman who devoted her life to serving and helping others.

Prominent – adj. 1) Noticeable or 2) Famous Paul’s large, cow-like nose is the most prominent feature on his face.

Splendor – n. Brilliant colors or beautiful appearance From the impressive and striking ruins , you can clearly imagine the splendor of the ancient city.

Superb – adj. Outstanding Since Toyota cars are of such superb quality, many customers will not buy any other type of car.

Supreme – adj. Greatest, highest, or extreme The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land; only congress can create laws to overturn its rulings.
