Welcome to Curriculum Night! Seventh-grade Language Arts Mrs. Carolyn Booth Pine Lake Middle School

Language Arts This yearlong class incorporates reading and writing workshop, with specific units for reading and writing. Students will read and write daily. Independent reading: Daily in class, daily at home M – Th, 25+ books this year.

Language Arts Students are expected to read thirty-minutes per day before or after school Monday – Thursday. Students record their pages and then hand in the reading log on Friday. Reading Log This document will be provided to students in class; however, it can be found on my website, as well.

Language Arts Teacher websites are found on the PLMS site. My website provides a Homework document for the work students will be doing in class each week. This can be found in several locations, as you will see.

Organization Students must learn to be organized this year. In LA, we have three sections in students’ binders: LA, Reading, and Writing. Check website for weekly assignments.

Homework Students are required to read Monday – Thursday thirty minutes each day before or after school. Students should record daily the number of pages read during those thirty minutes on their reading log. Time will also be provided in class for reading and writing assignments.

Student Expectations Show respect to everyone. Pay attention in class. Complete work on time. Bring necessary materials to class. Arrive with a positive attitude!

Communication . . . Together, parents and teachers are a team to provide growth and encouragement. Please do not hesitate to communicate with me! I am thrilled to teach your children and am pleased to see their desire to learn. If you are not signed up with PLMS e-news, check it out on the PLMS website!

. . . Communication The best way to contact me is email: boothc@issaquah.wednet.edu Website includes the week’s assignments on Connect. Click on the calendar or LA group icon.

Thank you! Thank you for dropping off your note to me in the turn-in basket as you leave.  Please leave additional cards on the desk for the next set of parents arriving; thank you!

Welcome to Curriculum Night! Seventh-grade Social Studies Mrs. Carolyn Booth Pine Lake Middle School

Social Studies History, geography, and economics of Europe, the Middle East, and China during the Middle Ages – two trimesters. WA State – history, geography, economics, and government during trimester three.

Social Studies History Alive text – Middle Ages Europe, the Middle East, China. Students already have an account on the TCI textbook via ClassLink. Here, students can read their text and complete the chapter challenge. Formal research project and essay in February/March.

Trimester Three WA State history, geography, economics, and government: this is an actual high school transcript class held during trimester three. Students must successfully pass this class or take it again for high school credit.

Organization Keep organized planner; Maintain an organized binder and spiral; Keep graded work at home or in binder; Check website for weekly assignments.

Homework Time will be provided in class for most assignments. Students should use their time well in class to avoid much homework. Some students enjoy doing more research and study at home. If your student has substantial SS homework, please notify me.

Student Expectations Show respect to everyone. Pay attention in class. Complete work on time. Bring necessary materials to class. Arrive with a positive attitude!

Late Work Policy Absent students with an excused absence have the same number of days that they have been absent to complete their work for full credit.
