Kansas Education Systems Accreditation Outside Validation Teams Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.

What is an Outside Validation Team? Responsibilities / Expectations An Outside Validation Team (OVT) is made up of education professionals charged with coaching, mentoring and supporting the district to which they are assigned for the duration of the five-year accreditation cycle. An Outside Validation Team (OVT) is made up of education professionals charged with coaching, mentoring and supporting from the district to which they are assigned for the duration of the five-year accreditation cycle. This team will assist the district with analyzing the results of its needs assessment and building a plan of action . *It is the responsibility of the district to acquire an OVT I.

Why Is an OVT important? Provides an objective perspective. Ensures process-fidelity. Fosters cross-district collaboration. Outside Validation Teams provide a critical function during the five-year accreditation process. When we’re too close to a situation, we can underestimate or overestimate our performance. An OVT provides an objective perspective that sets emotion aside and simply addresses the facts. An OVT provides a level of accountability to keep districts on track and focused to achieve the goals they’ve identified. Perhaps most importantly, the process of using an OVT ultimately fosters cross-district collaboration. This isn’t a competition between districts. It’s an opportunity to learn from one another and help each other move the state toward its goal of leading the world in the success of each student.

Why Serve on an OVT? Learn from one another Earn professional development credit Gain exposure to other system cultures

Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.. A NEW Vision for Kansas…. Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.. Based on the feedback received across the state, the board has adopted as its new vision for education “Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.” We intend to challenge the status quo, move away from placing emphasis on a single test score and focus more on helping each student identify and achieve their career aspirations. Teachers, administrators and support staff already are doing great work preparing Kansas’ students for success, and this new vision stands to unite our efforts across the state. You will hear us say we need to rethink how our schools are asked to operate. From a state perspective, we will look at every requirement to determine if and how we are supporting or impeding our schools’ abilities to address the needs of each child.

?? Questions to ask yourself or your team ?? Have we gone through a PreK-12 needs assessment lately? How? Have we looked at academic and non-academic data? How & What? Have we engaged stakeholder groups? How & Who? Have we found anything new about ourselves and our students? What? Do we like what we are seeing? Why? Can we improve on what we are seeing? How? What will it take to get better? How? Is it worth the effort? Why? For whom is it worth? Who? Am I doing what I was called to do? Why or Why Not? If I was gone tomorrow, would the next person clearly be able to move my/our work forward? How?
