Where is Jamaica located? It is situated in the Caribbean Sea, about 145 kilometers (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 190 kilometers (120 mi) west of Hispaniola.

Sports: Since independence Jamaica has consistently produced world class athletes in track and field. Association football and horse-racing are other popular sports in Jamaica. The national football team qualified for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. The Jamaica national bobsled team was once a serious contender in the Winter Olympics, beating many well-established teams.

Government and Politics: Government of Jamaica is a constitutional monarchy. The prime minister, who leads the majority party in Parliament, is the chief executive. Cabinet members head the ministries (executive departments) of the government. The British monarch appoints the governor general of Jamaica. The governor general represents the monarch but has few governing powers.

Famous people/role model: Marcus Garvey, founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) Michael Mordecai, past president of the Atlanta Jamaican Association (AJA). Civil engineer, real estate entrepreneur, sportsman and longtime community leader.

What do you like the most about Jamaica? I like that a lot of nice, notable people come from Jamaica such as my best friend. <3
