Dept. Led Tabletops A facilitated discussion that begins with a brief emergency scenario designed to elicit constructive conversation  Discussion based however participants can be asked to also physically practice exit routes and shelter in place procedures Supervisors act as facilitators Groups could be depts. or co-located individuals

Facilitator Training Offer multiple in-person training sessions includes a panel of: Safety Security Human Resources Counselling Center Resource Package Debriefs after each exercise week All resources were available online

Step by Step In advance of the exercise Day of After Decide when & where notify staff prepare yourself with exercise resources and training Day of 30-60 minutes discussing the scenario(s) After Debrief your staff Complete evaluation & attend facilitator debrief

Active Shooter Events Victims can be random or targeted Unpredictable and evolves quickly Low Risk – High Consequence

Active Shooter If you are in immediate danger decide what your best course of action would be.

Scenarios 3 customizable scenario managing 3 threat levels. 1. Threatening or Aggressive Behavior 2. Shelter in Place Alert 3. Imminent Danger/ shots fired 3 customizable scenario managing 3 threat levels.

Facilitator Tips Interpretations Validate concerns Know your own response to the scenario Allow participants to make discoveries

Effectiveness Prepares as many people as possible Allows individuals to mentally rehearse their response in their own work area Physically practiced/assessed exit routes or shelter procedures Identified gaps Alleviated anxiety, and created a sense of community resiliency Inoculation effect

Key Success Factors Exercise date/time at Supervisor’s Discretion Allow some flexibility on timeline to complete Supervisor’s own it – let them be creative Follow up on feedback from facilitators
