Aim: How can we display data in an experiment? Do Now:

Choice 1

Prior to doing an experiment, research is done Planning Building equipment and getting all materials Taking safety precautions Record observations

Copy This Data Table

During The Experiment, Data is Collected Different plant species require different amounts of direct sunlight in order to flower. A student designed an experiment to determine the length of exposure to direct sunlight necessary for a specific plant species to produce flowers. The student collected the data below. 1 hour, 0% with flowers; 5 hours, 90% with flowers 3 hours, 80% with flowers; 7 hours, 10% with flowers Organize the data collected, from shortest to longest length of exposure, in the data table below.

Graph your Data

Rules For Graphing Independent Variable- on the X Axis- examples can be temperature, time Dependent Variable- Y Axis- what you are measuring Must have a title Plot points and don’t forget to CONNECT with a line Don’t ignore the origin- if it is (0,0) write that Make sure your scale fits the graphing area

Exit Ticket The development of an experimental research plan should NOT include A- procedure for the use of technologies needed for the experiment B- list of safety precautions for the experiment C- list of equipment needed to conduct the experiment D- conclusion based on data expected to be collected in the experiment
