SENDING HELP FROM THE SANCTUARY: THE CONTENTMENT FACTOR BY PASTOR ANDREW MORGRIDGE
We said, get to the Sanctuary to get help We said, get to the Sanctuary to get help. Now that you are at the sanctuary, we are looking at some things you need to know and do. (Ps 139: 1-16: Mt 6:7-8).
Concerning praying and receiving from the Lord Concerning praying and receiving from the Lord. His will for every matter is known in the word of God and as the Holy -Spirit reveals the things that are freely given to the individual, as he enquires or as God deems fit to reveal to him. (1 Cor. 2:9-12).
(The know there it means to perceive, discern, discover through your senses or your mind.)
Freely given it from the Greek word, “to do something pleasant or agreeable (to one), to do a favour to, gratify To show one’s self gracious, kind, benevolent
Christianity is an individual calling (Is 45:4: Gal. 6:4-5). (Mt. 25:14-30; 1Cor. 7:7; 1 Cor. 12:4-11; Matt. 19:10-11). Not all men know this, hence they fret when God does not answer their prayers, and many run ahead of God to get what He has not given to cause sorrow for themselves in their tomorrow.
Absalom and David as quick examples (2Sam. 12:7-12) Absalom and David as quick examples (2Sam. 12:7-12). That’s the contentment factor. We will look at Absalom later.
In Psalm 89 we read of the loving kindness of God and His faithfulness (Ps. 89:1-3, 24,30-33). Lam 3:22-23 Discuss Mk. 7:24-30. But with her worship and faith she qualified by God’s judgment (pet, not wild dog). Rm. 4:18-22
If there’s any point to note in that account first, it is the fact that the exchange of words happened alone with Jesus Christ. She understood what many don’t understand that you have to get into the sanctuary to make pressing demands. (Isa.41:21). (Isa. 1:18-19).
By pressing forward despite being shunned, she understood also what many don’t: God’s kingdom operates on the law that God is in control, and thus nobody receives anything except he is given by God. (Jn. 3:27);
Nothing happens outside Him (Prov. 15:3; Prov. 20:24; Heb Nothing happens outside Him (Prov. 15:3; Prov. 20:24; Heb. 4:12-13), and He will do anything to ensure the spiritual growth of His children, while meeting their needs (not wants), as long as they listen to Him and do things His way. (Ps. 81:10 - ; Isa. 16:19).
Contentment as a show of love and trust for God is a road we must all work on (Ps. 78:1-8,17-30. Exodus 16:13-27 as we see i.e. manna and other lessons bordering on contentment. 1st as you can eat. 2nd provision for Sabbath. Manna means “what is this”
Note their distaste – this “Corriander” Note their distaste – this “Corriander”. Among ancient doctors, Coriander was known to Hippocratic (father of medicine) and Pliny who called it Coriandrum because of its “buggy” smell, coris being a bug.
So it’s not by mistake that God told Moses to put the Manna in the ark as a memorial – lesson for all of us. (Ex. 16:31-33) Take heed and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth”.
Lk. 12:15-20; Eccl. 5:10; Eccl. 6:7. Without controversy it is a sin that leads to other sins. A little desire for Bathsheba plagued David all his life (2Sam. 11-18) Achan (Josh. 6:17-19 – Chap 7). Gehazi and Naaman (2Kings 5)
James sums it up (Jam. 1:14-15) and we see it exploding to life in Absalom (2Sam. 15:1-6) Lessons – (1) It’s the beginning of betrayal. In our case of God. See Korah (Num. 16 and 17) (2) It’s idolatry – here the worship of yourself (Cor. 3:5; compared to Heb. 13:5
3. He has a wicked heart (Jer. 10: 9; Prov 3. He has a wicked heart (Jer. 10: 9; Prov. 6:18 – What a combination, only the Holy Ghost can interfere in the process to sin. God made man, He reserves the right to decide his faith (Jer. 17: 23).
Ps. 139; Jer. 1:1-5 Conception determined before we were born in the selection of one egg out of millions and one sperm out of millions.
God is supreme. He is Omniscient knowing the future and everybody better than they know themselves. All those who come in to the Sanctuary to receive must have this understanding. That’s the very important lesson. He began to teach, as far back as manna Deut. 8:3,16.
