Curriculum

Classroom Routines Knowing the Objectives and Essential questions for each unit Working in a team, collaboration with others Communication and high expectations Homework Club/CICO

PBIS The PBIS intervention system used in class rewards good behavior. Students receive tickets when rewarded that they can use in the classroom. Some of the rewards include changing seats for the day, sit in the teacher’s chair, etc.

Grades and Measurement of Learning Common Core and Il. State Standards High expectations for every student. Positive behavior and good manners will be reinforced. Grades are calculated based on academic ability, effort, participation, and assignments received in a timely manner.

Kagan/Group work Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures will be used throughout the year. Kagan Structures are engaging activities that increase academic achievement, improve ethnic relations, enhance self-esteem, create a more harmonious classroom climate, reduce discipline problems, and develop students' social skills and character virtues. Using these structures encourage teamwork, teambuilding, and collaboration. Working with others can be difficult, but a necessary skill to be successful in the future.
