History of BIG Event The Big Event is the nation’s largest one-day, student run community service project. Originally started in College Station in 1982, it was a way for the University to give something back to the community that is so supportive. The Big Event has been adopted by many Universities in the A&M system, as well as many outside universities.

BIG Event on the Island A tradition on the Island since Last Year: Over 200 volunteers 20 teams 20 different project sites Over 100 job site applications submitted

Who are we helping? Elderly Disabled Chronically ill Homebound Low income Local non-profits and community partners

How can you help? Join a planning committee! Form a team! BIG Event Chair, Campus Outreach, Community Outreach, Logistics, Site Checker, Hospitality Form a team! Volunteers who are bilingual and have experience with lawn mowers and weed eaters
