The Team

Introduction The goal of our project was to build a device to raise a 1 kg mass to a height of 1 m in 10 seconds. All of our parts were purchased at Lowe’s. Others were very easy to find household items.

Overview Ball goes down Chute Ball hits the Hinge Hinge lets go of string String loosens Allows the Water Bottle to raise the weight to a height of 1 m

Energy Conversions Ball Door Hinges Water Bottle Gravitational Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy Door Hinges Kinetic Energy to Spring Energy Water Bottle Gravitational Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy by way of Atwood’s Machine

Conclusions Our project took about 3 hours to build and plan in its entirety. Problems Faced: Getting the hinges to stay horizontal Getting the structure to be stable Getting the device to actually work
