umbrellaID CALIPSOplus NA1 : From first part of 2017 the following activities will be financed for umbrellaID: Promotion of umbrellaID and the unified access platform. Coordinated development of umbrellaID extensions, i.e. connection to ORCID and other infrastructures such as supercomputing centers. Technical helpdesk for the users of umbrellaID and its attached systems (e.g. Moonshot, iCAT). Maintenance of the website of the umbrellaID collaboration. Close connection to RDA, FIM4R and AARC projects.

umbrellaID CALIPSOplus WP24 JRA2 - Demonstrator of a Photon Science Analysis Service (DaaS) Task 24.6 Extend and deploy the Umbrella authentication system as the standard authentication mechanism to fully support different non-web-based authentication mechanisms to be able to service a broader range of facilities (eduGain + JISC Assent) with differing needs and capabilities.

umbrellaID PR activities 2017: Email to all users of the collaboration via user office portals mid 2017 Write on each UO website, what you can do with umbrellaID PR actions will be coordinated within the umbrellaID collaboration. Contact with lightsources.org (and LEAPS) to promote UmbrellaID  

umbrellaID Open questions sustainability: What resources (people, infrastructure) are committed to Umbrella today? How many are permanent? How many resources do we need to ensure a reliable and secure service? Could it be envisaged to subcontract the IDP and if yes, at which cost? What is the medium and long term roadmap for Umbrella? Which services take (or will take) benefit of Umbrella? How many sites are actively encouraging their users to use Umbrella? Is it increasing or decreasing? What are the alternatives? Is EDUGAIN enough? Should we adopt Elixir's AAI? Should we propose Umbrella for CalypsoPlus + PaNDaaS?

Application service owner Mirjam van Daalen 0.1 FTE; Björn Abt application service manager 0.2 FTE; New junior software developer will be hired 50% for 3 years CALIPSOplus For development and operation   How many resources do we need to ensure a reliable and secure service? Could it be envisaged to subcontract the IDP and if yes, at which cost? Discussions with SWITCH have shown that subcontracting this kind of service can be very expensive (>60k CHF p.a.) to subcontract. We should keep our eyes open for other subcontractors with a more economical offer. To have a reliable and secure service a minimum of 0.2 FTEs are needed.

umbrellaID What is the medium and long term roadmap for Umbrella? Umbrella is currently used as FIM platform for 3 external companies at PSI and will be part of the IT service portfolio of the ParkInnovaare Umbrella will be embedded in the PSI IT strategy Operation of Umbrella will be sustainably secured by the PSI section IT application services, also after CALIPSOplus financing. New Developments asked for by the partners of the Umbrella Collaboration would require financial participation of the partners. Which services take (or will take) benefit of Umbrella? Moonshot, EduGAIN At the facilities following services take (or will take) benefit of umbrellaID: proposal submission, data acquisition, remote access and data catalogue access.

umbrellaID How many sites are actively encouraging their users to use Umbrella? Is it increasing or decreasing? PSI is currently developing a promotion plan for Umbrella that will be implemented 2017-2018. Other sites will be encouraged to do the same. At this moment there are 1169 registrated accounts (today), the amount is slowly increasing (~+20/month). What are the alternatives? Is EDUGAIN enough? Should we adopt Elixir's AAI? Should we propose Umbrella for CalipsoPlus + PaNDaaS? No need for alternatives Umbrella is already part of NA1 and JRA2 of CALIPSOplus

Which shared services should be offered: Indico, iCAT, iSpyb… Make Umbrella only access (PSI for external users?) GDPR & Umbrella? IdP solution how many idP’s do we need? Where will they be situated? Google or facebook authentication?
