If you are still hungry for practice, help yourself to some dessert! Appetizer (5 minutes) Practice any of the listed Daily Math skills Write some word family words in a fun way Main Course(15 minutes) Read a “just-right book” to a stuffed animal or a family member for 13 minutes. Spend 2 minutes retelling what you read. Dessert (10 minutes) Write about something that happened today in your planner Go on to the class website and explore some of the ELA and Math games linked on the Web Resources page. Daily Math skills: Say, show, or write different ways to make 4,5,6, or 7 write addition sentences within 10 and then write the “flip flop fact- (3+4=7/ 4+3=7) sorting handfuls of items into groups of ten and some more(cereal, pennies, paper clips) Practice writing numbers from 1-120 STEM focus and Words of the week Questions: How can we tell if materials will be strong and sturdy? Homework and Newsletter September 4th- Sept 8th A note from the teachers… We hope everyone had a great long weekend! We are excited to be starting new fairy tale STEM challenges this week. We really appreciate all of the Maker Space donations we have been receiving. The kids have so many options and are truly engaged in the activities. This week, Mrs. Watson’s class will be designing and building a strong house for the three little pigs and Mrs. Swartz’s class will be designing and building bridges to hold up the three Billy goats. Our phonics focus for the week is short o but we are continuing to work with all of the short vowel sounds. In math, we are identifying different ways to make numbers within 10 to improve our addition fluency and our number sense.
