Describing ourselves Mark in Green for Vocab

Bellwork – 19 de octubre Write a reflection in English of how this year in Spanish is going so far for you. What are some things that are going well for you? What are some things that are harder than you expected? What is the best thing about this year in Spanish? What is the worst thing about this year in Spanish? How are your quizzes and tests going so far? Are you on track to get the 70% (required minimum) on the final exam?

Adjectives What is an adjective?

Describing ourselves In English it is normal for someone to say “Tell me about yourself.” In Spanish, this occurs as well. When someone wants to know things about us, we describe ourselves with adjectives. “I am fun.” “I am boring.” etc. Today we will learn how to ask someone about themselves and how to respond when we are asked them. They ask: ¿Cómo eres? (Describe yourself) We respond: Soy ________. (Blank to be filled in with an adjective.)

Adjectives - Adjectivos Alto/alta (tall) Bajo/baja (short) Chaparro/chaparra (short) Inteligente (smart, intelligent) Trabajador/trabajadora (hard-working) Bueno/Buena (good, nice) Malo/mala (bad, mean) Hablador/habladora (talkative) Tímido/timida (shy, timid) Sincero/sincera (sincere)

Amable (nice, friendly) Amigable (friendly) Simpatico/simpática (nice) Perezoso/perezosa (lazy) Divertido/divertida (fun) Aburrido/aburrida (boring) Cómico/cómica (funny) Gracioso/Graciosa (funny) Interesante (interesting) Generoso/generosa (generous) Egoísta (selfish)

Homework - tarea Tonight your homework is the Describing Ourselves Worksheet. Once you are done with that you need to draw yourself in the middle of the backside of the Worksheet. You need to write beneath yourself “SOY ________”. Then write 10 adjectives that describe you. A picture needs to be drawn with each adjective. BE CREATIVE!! MUST BE COLORED!! Due tomorrow!!
