Lessons Learnt prevention and early intervention of disabilities with more focus on maternal and child health reduces the prevalence of disabilities. Working for the communities and with the communities using the community structures through the integrated approach is more sustainable than parallel approach. Empowering communities and PWDs increases participation in regional and national development agenda. Using CBR Guidelines enhances the complete services to Persons with disabilities for equalization of opportunities. Sunday, July 29, 2018

Challenges experienced Poverty still poses a greater challenges especially in the rural communities and peri-urban set up. Funding for disability related intervention has not received the priority required for equalizing opportunities for PWDs. Maternal and neonatal complications still a major cause of disability. The emerging non communicable disease burden is a threat to disability prevention and management. Community attitudes towards persons with disabilities is still a big barrier. Sunday, July 29, 2018

Questions …. Thank you. Sunday, July 29, 2018
