DISCUSSION QUESTIONS and the WORK PROGRAMME A short historical update on quality assurance What are the major challenges? What are the main solutions? Differences in context 1 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

What are the major challenges? How to build on the existing work done? Easy access to the work done Easy access to the main conclusions (?) The existence/status of the reference points Do they exist and function? Who in the reference point can make decisions? How can they influence the quality assurance at provider level? What does quality mean for me? The selection of the members of the working groups 1 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

Preconditions: The national reference points functions??? Not formalised/exist in all countries Funding is a challenge (LdV-funding?) Very new in many Member States More focus on the content than on the organisation Cooperation between the national reference points will be helpful – on selected topics Make LdV-projects together (support needed for the July 16 application) 1 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

Motivation and ownership (what is in it for me?) A challenge to motivate teachers and other stakeholders Slow start Talk from a national context Broad involvement 1 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

2 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training WHAT ARE THE KEY ISSUES which will impact on the development of national approaches for implementing the Reference Framework and its descriptive indicators? The roles of the national reference points The integration of all the national and European strategies The inspiration and experiences from other Member States Political will Monitoring on selected indicators The attractiveness of VET (very different levels) Motivation and ownership (what is in it for me?) 2 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

3 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training HOW TO BUILD ON EXISTING SYSTEMS and developing an incremental approach to implementation? Use the experiences at European level, both from the old and new MS and ETF Take part in networks as the EQAVET Dialogue 3 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

WHICH METHODOLOGIES ARE MORE APPROPRIATE? Build on the existing work done Use the official project homepage Get access to practical examples from other MS Combine new and old members in the working groups + persons from the national reference points. Use the Cedefop definitions and agree on new “words” internally. Use the word: quality development User-friendly systems and structures Start with the most used systems 4 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training

WHICH ELEMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR PREPARING NATIONAL WORK PLANS? Overview of what is available at the moment (Research on the existing regional/national quality assurance systems) A group of stakeholders Partnerships Cooperation/merging of the actors (reference points) working on the different European VET-tools A communication strategy (conference, interactive homepage, …) 5 European Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training
