In this unit you will : Learn about the life and work of Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s most famous painters Learn about the influences in her work – culture, love, death, pain, dreams and nightmares. Explore symbolism in your life. Review portraiture techniques. Plan and create a large acrylic self portrait

In your sketchbooks Design a unit title page, using collaged materials. Type the following words into google image search : Mexican day of the dead, Mexico, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Mexican Symbolism, Aztec symbolism. Print out interesting images along with some of Fridas paintings that you like, and using scissors and glue, combine the images into an interesting collage. Using paint, blend in the images so that they all work together in harmony. This title page must be full colour, and include the name of the unit. Complete this for homework
