SDHCAL Integration Moi j’aime bien SAFARI Ca perd to_ut son charme dès que c’est en angalis mais bon…

For SDHCAL the favorite mechanical structure is the one proposed by Henri Videau No projective cracks neither in F nor in  Distance between Barrel and Endcaps is minimized since all services are on the outer radius of the barrel Limited deformation

One wheel with 8 modules Stainless steel wheel Weight : 88 000 kg Detectors weight : 36 800 kg Total weight : 124800

Barrel with 5 wheels Stainless steel Ext. Diameter 6715 mm Int. Diameter 4028 mm Length 4800 mm Barrel Weight : 440 000 kg Detectors weight : 184 000 kg Total weight : 624 000 Kg

One module with 48 detectors Stainless steel Module Weight : 44 500 kg Detectors weight : 21 120 kg Total weight : 65620 Kg

One endcap with 4 modules Stainless steel Endcap Weight : 178 000 kg Detectors weight : 84 480 kg Total weight : 262 480 kg Mechanical structure needed

Hcal Ring Two options: either the ring is attached to the barrel or to the endcaps. The first option is more appropriate from the mechanical point of view but it is probably less adequate for inner detector services. HCAL barrel Endcap ECAL barrel HCAL ring HCAL barrel Endcap ECAL barrel

DHCAL emax = 0.15 mm

DHCAL + ECAL Fixing line DHCAL + ECAL-8-3 g emax = 0.35 mm

Mounting BARREL Each of the 5 sectors of the barrel will be built in horizontally Then using appropriate tooling, wheels will be put vertically and mounted on the insertion machine ENDCAPs The same strategy as for the barrel can be followed. One possible scenario is to build the 4 quarters separately before to mount them on the insertion machine Service cabling will be performed on the insertion machine. The best scenario is to perform the mounting in two steps for the barrel: 2+3 wheels

Insertion machine: The insertion machine should have a rotating movement so the cassettes insertion and cabling can be done easily: Ex: cassette vertical insertion

Services Services: Cooling, Gas, HV,LV.. To be implemented from the outer radius for both barrel and endcaps. They will be taken out though the aperture between Barrel and endcaps

Integration Both barrel and endcaps will be fixed on the corresponding cryosta. Magnetic field effect on the endcaps is to be taken into account (learning from CMS)

Summary Groups involved in SDHCAL option are working to propose a robust mechanical structure and a realistic integration scheme taking into account the CMS experience. A lot of work still to be done for the ENDCAPS The services cables of SDHCAL has almost no consequence on the ILD simulation
