Phantom Eye Design Philosophy The Phantom Eye is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed for military surveillance, reconnaissance, and communication applications. Three major design guidelines include: High altitude - 65,000 ft. Long endurance - 4 days. Liquid-Hydrogen powered. Autonomous take off via launch cart. Autonomous landing using landing gear. Boeing Phantom Eye UAV

Phantom Eye (Demonstrator) – General Characteristics Wingspan 150 ft (46 m) Length 53 ft Takeoff gross weight 9,800 lbs (4,445 kg) Cruise speed 150 kts (~173 MPH) Max speed 200 kts (~230 MPH) Engines (2) 2.3L 150 Horsepower Endurance 4 days at 65,000 ft* * Flight time includes 450 lb payload Boeing Phantom Eye UAV

Phantom Eye – Testing Flight test site: Edwards Air Force Base, CA. 6 total test flights. Most recent in mid December, 2014. Longest flight: 5 hours @ ~30,000 ft. First test flight experienced failure in landing gear. New landing gear shown in picture, rests on wing after coming to a stop. Video of second test flight highlighting take-off and landing.
