Educating future physicians UBC Medical School students already come to Lions Gate Hospital for training, but with the new space available in the HOpe Centre LGH’s role in educating future physicians will grow. This partnership is also expanding to take advantage of the increased space with the launch of a new VCH Coastal Rural Residency Program.

Research is vital The HOpe Centre will serve as a focal point for individual clinical and community-based researchers. By providing the necessary research infrastructure, this new facility will help support a wide array of new research studies as well as help clinical staff translate a variety of research recommendations into the urban, rural and remote communities of VCH-Coastal, benefiting mental health services across the region.

Artwork A key component of the Art Program is the use of art to create a beautiful, welcoming environment in the new Greta and Robert H. N. Ho Psychiatry and Education Centre (The HOpe Centre) and help reduce the stigma around mental illness. Art Therapy is an integral part of the Centre’s mental wellness program. Client art produced in the art therapy workshop will also be displayed on the walls of this innovative new facility.
