Celebrating CIHS Success Currently, there are 116 CIHS in NC 102 CHIS partner with community colleges 9 CIHS partner with UNC institutions 5 CIHS partner with independent colleges Serving 21,272 students (2015-16)

Foundation of Success 95% have outperformed the state average cohort graduation rate. Many are at 100%. 90% have met or exceeded growth. 91% received A or B school performance grades. Many have been recognized for excellence and host visits to share and scale innovation.

Vital Elements: Vision and Focus What defines your CIHS? What unique opportunities do you offer students? What do people in your community know about your school? What would you like them to know? What does your name imply about your school? How will you collaborate to design a culture of success that works for each student?

Vital Elements: Pathways to Completion What are the most essential practices and strategies to support students to complete degrees, credentials, transferable credit? Four and five year plans/pathways Academic and affective supports Rigor and scaffolding Supporting teachers to support students Creating a culture of success Collaborating with your college partner

Vital Elements: Instructional Leadership and Practice How will you, as the school leader, model instructional leadership? What are your expectations for daily classroom practice? How do these expectations fit with your Vision and Focus? How will you set clear, high, common expectations for all staff and students? How will staff support each other to ensure rigor and supports in each class, and for all students?

Vital Elements: School Design and Operations How is the school organized, what structures and practices are in place to ensure the vision is realized for each student? What structures ensure effective collaboration for all staff? What structures are in place for continuous improvement? What professional learning will your staff engage? How will you differentiate to serve all students well?
