Aircraft maintenance forms A quick look at common maintenance forms

Aircraft maintenance forms Military aircraft maintenance are a part of the 781 series of forms Universal across multiple airframe platforms as well as service branches This allows for easier translatability between each of the service components Proper upkeep of forms documentation is crucial for maintenance technicians There is typically a binder for each aircraft tail number that contains the following: 781, 781F, 781H, 781A, 781J, and 781K Aircraft maintenance forms

781 Pilot’s flight data sheet For record of sorties or flying hours for input Is to be completed by pilots and debrief

781 F Typically known as the forms “front cover” Contains all aircraft pertinent data like tail number, pilot name(s), crew chief name(s), mission design series, its home station, and the like Essentially it tells who owns it and what the aircraft is 781 F

781 H Easily remembered as “How’s my jet” Contains aircraft flying status (grounded or flyable) Lists all major daily inspections related to flying Tracks aircraft daily flight times Reverse side details any servicing, to include fuel, oxygen, oil, and hydraulic fluid, for trend analysis.

781 A Used to document aircraft discrepancies Also displays a space for detailed corrective actions and technical manual used for repair Allows for annotation of who discovered the discrepancy and the technicians responsible for the repair 781 A

781 J Used for “Jet Engine Times” Record of total engine operating and airframe flying times Also has tracking for oil added for trend analysis 781 J

781 K Used to track “K”alendar inspections These inspections are driven by either flying hours or calendar days Also used to detail any delayed discrepancies, which are ones that require extensive time to repair, but don’t affect airworthiness 781 K

Summary Maintenance forms used to document discrepancies Each aircraft has a set of forms to include 781, 781F, 781H, 781A, 781J, and 781K All maintenance technicians are responsible for the upkeep and accuracy of each form All military service branches use the same type of forms
