(A) Varicose veins of the left lower extremity (A) Varicose veins of the left lower extremity. Varicose veins are dilated, tortuous, palpable subcutaneous veins. (B) Red and blue telangiectasias and venulectasias. Commonly known as spider veins, telangiectasias are dilated postcapillary venules demonstrating backflow from incompetent reticular veins. Venulectasias are raised bluish vessels that often appear with nonraised telangiectasias. (C) Telangiectasias and reticular veins. Also known as feeder veins, reticular veins are flat, dilated blue and green veins that arise from the reticular venous plexus.
