Presenting to: IEPC, Harrogate Date: 16th November 2009 Diversity Talent Key – the barrier removal tool to take Enterprise Ambition Forward

Diversity Talent Key: What is it? It is a process that can be used by individuals to better understand what is preventing their progress It does this by breaking down barriers into ‘cause’ and ‘effect’ The process then focuses on developing creative solutions to deal with the causes “Hide not your talents. They for use were made. What’s a sundial in the shade?” Benjamin Franklin

About Diversity Talent Key Where did it come from? The original Talent Key was developed by the Talent Foundation Exemplas added the Diversity bit Who has it been used with? From blue chip companies to hard to reach groups; senior managers; underperforming teams; the long term unemployed, individuals facing redundancy

So how does it work? Day 1

Unlocking ‘Talent’ Think of - something that you want to do - something that you want to have - something that you want to be but you can’t .... Write down the reasons why you cannot do/have or be what you want, and give them each a score (10 being the most important and 1 being the least important) Rate it 1-10 Pick out the reason with the highest score, and write it here. Evidence why you can’t …… Evidence why you could…........ Rate it again 1-10 So what now? (actions) Rate it again 1-10 “Talent Unlocker” is an integral part of The Talent Foundation’s TalentKey Workshop. © The Talent Foundation 2000 – 2004. All rights reserved.
