Hebrews 12:28-29 ( NKJV ) 28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.  29For our God is a consuming fire. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. Hosea 6:6 ( KJV ) 6For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.  Micah 6:6-8 ( NKJV ) 6 With what shall I come before the Lord, And bow myself before the High God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, With calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, Ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? We like to justify our choices - Proverbs 21:2 ( NKJV ) 2    Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts.

And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” CONCLUSION: We must strive with all our heart to serve God in the specific ways that He has taught us.
