Operation Bounce Back: Kids & Keys

you’ll always get what you’ve always got” Innovation “If you always do what you’ve always done - you’ll always get what you’ve always got”

Engagement and Partnership Brokering LISA RUDD: TEN ‘T’ THEORY

1. Time It takes time to engage with others and build partnerships Sometimes the timing is just not right - particularly with new or innovative ideas The Seventh Wave: Taking your time and waiting for the right wave to carry your ideas forward

“Oh… you can’t do that”. 2. Tenacity When someone says that to you – what they are actually saying is: ”Oh……I couldn’t do that”.

3. Trust In yourself, your ideas and your abilities Build trust and understanding

4. Teamwork

5. Table Who is at your board table, attending your meetings or part of your team - is there an empty chair? Particularly important if you have undertaken a new initiative or a challenge arises. Have you bitten off more than you can chew?

Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people. If you have you bitten off more than you can chew: 1. Spit it out before it chokes you. 2. Chew like bloody mad. 3. Find someone to chew right alongside you. This works best if they like the same flavours as you and chew in a similar manner Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people.

6. Truth Don’t promise more than you can realistically deliver. Don’t have hidden agendas - be upfront and honest.

7. Themes & Tangibility Be able to express what it is that you are trying to achieve in a way that others are able to understand. Themes can often get an idea or project started (just like setting a theme for a party). Make it is a “real” as possible – if you only have a theory that can sometimes be difficult for others to understand.

8 . Tangents Don’t be afraid of tangents – they can lead to innovation and a new way of thinking and doing – just don’t lose sight of your Target or Task !

9. Take Criticism and feedback Select what is useful (don’t get bogged down in other people’s negativities or fears) - Listen for understanding. Say thank you and ask questions - so as to gain insight into the reasoning behind the feedback/criticism. Use this feedback to your advantage – let it challenge you to expand the way you are thinking or doing things. Remember what someone is really saying when you hear the words: “Oh….you can’t do that”.

10. Torrac The hook, drawcard, incentive Mutually beneficial outcomes Torrac = Carrot spelt backwards Too Serious – Have some fun

you’ll always get what you’ve always got”. Take home messages “If you always do what you’ve always done - you’ll always get what you’ve always got”.
