Going to & present continuous
First : present continuous Affirmative negative S + be + base form of verb + ing For example : I’m eating. S + be + (NOT)+ base form of verb + ing I’m not eating.
GRAMMAR NOTES:- We use Present continuous to talk about an action is happening now There are time expressions : at the moment , now , right now BE CAREFUL! We don’t usually use non-action verbs
Yes / No Questions Am Are Is WORKING ? Yes, you are No, you aren’t I She He It They We Am Are Is Yes, you are No, you aren’t WORKING ?
Wh – Questions what Are You Why Are We Staying ? Who Is She where Am I
Second : going to Affirmative Negative S + be + going to + base form of verb . S + be + NOT + going to + base form of verb .
EXAMPLES I’m going to study tomorrow . Affirmative Negative For example : I’m going to study tomorrow . I’m (not) going to study tomorrow.
There are two kinds of question QUESTIONS There are two kinds of question wh - question Yes / No question
For example : Wh – question Yes / No question Wh – word + be + sub + going to + base form f verb For example : What are you going to do ? be + sub + going to + base form f verb Are you going to drive tomorrow ?
GRAMMAR NOTES :- We use going to to tell about an action will happen in the future Future time marker : next week , this weekend ,tomorrow etc.
