Brian and the Gallowfield Ghosts Chapter 17 Talking Book
It was the Edinburgh bikers who found Michael and John. "We understand you guys want to interview hostel members about their ghostly encounters. I am Gary", said Gary, "and this is Stewart, Andy and Ross. Ask anything you want." It turned out that the Edinburgh bikers were all doctors. Ever since they had graduated from university, at least once a year they went on a motorbike holiday together. They were interested in ghosts and had visited lots of places that were supposed to be haunted. This was their first visit to Gallowfield. "Do you think Gallowfield is really haunted?", asked Michael.
"Absolutely not", said Gary. "No way", said Ross. "No", said Stewart. "Nope", said Andy. "We visited Monk House", said Andy. "You can pay for a nice cup of tea and a cream scone with the owners, but its pretty obvious they have never seen a ghost." "We had lunch at the White Horse and listened to Mrs Strong tell her tales of supernatural furniture removals. All good for business I would think", said Stewart. "Whatever frightened the gift shop owner, it was not a ghost", said Ross. "Mr Strover believes he has seen a ghost", said Gary, "but he does rely on ghost stories for a job." "But we have seen the Grey Lady", said John. "She was real. We both saw her haunting Gore Court", said Michael.
"You did not see a ghost", said Gary. "No way", said Ross. "No", said Stewart. "Nope", said Andy. "You may have seen a Grey Lady, but how do you know it was not someone dressed up to scare you?", added Gary. The Edinburgh bikers asked the boys lots of questions about what they had seen. "Well", said Michael afterwards, "that was a really successful interview. They asked us more questions than we asked them." "I know" said John. "At least one thing is clear." "What's that?", asked Michael. "They can be dropped from Brian's list of suspects. There is no way they believe in ghosts."
