Why do we have odd socks or funky tights or funky socks on today? We have them on because today is a special day. Today is World Down Syndrome Day. Once a year we have this special occasion. We celebrate this day because of all the people with Down Syndrome. The socks show we are all the same (humans) but different in other ways.

What is Down Syndrome? My sister has Down Syndrome. World Down Syndrome Day is on March 21st because people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome 21 in every part of their body. Because they have three of chromosome 21 it is like March (3rd month) 21st.
