Discretionary Income: 2.6 What is SEM? Competition for the Entertainment Dollar Discretionary Income: is disposable income (after-tax income), minus all payments that are necessary to meet current bills. Money left to spend after necessary expenses are paid such as mortgage, utilities, insurance, food… Discretionary income = gross income - taxes - all compelled payments (bills)
