Samaritan’s Purse - Disaster Relief Work In Iraq Samaritan’s Purse have been a welcomed Christian presence in northern Iraq for nearly a decade. Our work includes children’s programmes, medical care, and other projects for those displaced by ISIS. Key events in the recent conflict include: June 2014 - ISIS took control of the city of Mosul October 2016 - the Iraqi Security Forces began an offensive to liberate Mosul from ISIS As the fierce fighting moved through the city, families had to flee their homes Over 900,000 people were displaced The Iraqi Prime Minister declared victory for Mosul on the 10th of July 2017 With much of the city destroyed, over 800,000 people are unable to return home

We thank you for answered prayers; For civilians who had been captured, and now are free. For the intense conflict to liberate the city having ended. We know that people have experienced trauma, and profound loss. We pray you’ll bring comfort, healing and restoration across the land.
