Renaissance and Reformation The Renaissance marks a “rebirth” in Europe. A renewal in an interest in classical Greek and Roman culture. A renewal in interest in art, science, literature, and cultural advancement. In sharp contrast to the Medieval Period, the Renaissance is marked by a decrease in the power of the church and an increased faith in science. This movement began in Italy.
