Proverbs 3:5-7

We all struggle with sin. Those sins may be different We all struggle with sin. Those sins may be different. What things do you struggle with?

What is at the root of sin What is at the root of sin? Go all the way back to Eve in the garden and ask yourself what was at the root of that?

We simply do not trust God when we sin, but rather we trust Satan, others, or ourselves.

Abraham – Genesis 12 & 20 Abraham lied twice to protect himself, after God had promised to make a great nation out of him. Where was his trust?

Jeroboam – I Kings 12 Jeroboam was promised 10 tribes and a long reign if he followed God. He did not trust God but rather feared losing His people if they followed God’s commands.

Do we trust the power of the gospel or do we trust ourselves?

Do we trust God when He tells us that we can know that we are saved Do we trust God when He tells us that we can know that we are saved? I John 5:13. II Peter 1:10.

How Can We Better Trust God? Recognize who God is (Psalm 8) See His faithfulness (I Ki. 8:56; Ps. 37:3; Lam. 3:23) Acknowledge God (Prov. 3:6; Js. 4:15) Don’t trust your feelings (Prov. 3:5; 14:12; Jer. 17:9)
